1. Purpose and Function

The purpose of this Society is to procure the latest data on the techniques and methods in planning, design, construction and maintenance of highways and other transportation facilities; to disseminate this information among the members; to establish good public relationships; to exercise the code of ethics; to foster and publicize new and advanced ideas and devices developed by members; and to promote the general welfare of the transportation industry. The functions of this organization shall be to confer and suggest as to matters of policy; to cooperate with other engineering, technical and civic associations in matters of mutual interest; to study highway and transportation problems; to encourage members to prepare and discuss papers appropriate to the aims of the Society; to bring about a closer acquaintance and a spirit of cooperation among members; to promote education and awareness of highway industry; to sponsor technical and educational meetings; discussions and seminars; and to provide opportunities for social interaction among its members.

2. Eligibility

A Member shall meet at least one of the requirements listed below:

  • Have a college degree in engineering from a school of recognized standing and have three (3) years of experience in a highway related industry, or
  • Have seven (7) years of experience in a highway related industry plus an engineer-in-training certificate, or
  • Have nine (9) years of experience in a highway-related industry.

3. Member Benefits

You don’t have to become an ASHE member to learn about the latest ideas and technology within the transportation industry at our regularly scheduled luncheon meetings. 4. Application

If you are interested in joining (or rejoining) ASHE, please fill out either the online membership or printable forms and submit your membership dues of $65 ($60 for government employees and unemployed; $25 for students). 5. Member Renewals

The ASHE membership year begins on June 1st and ends on May 31st. Renewal notifications are typically sent out via email to the address(es) on file. To confirm that you wish to renew your membership, log on to your ASHE Georgia account and click on the button that reads I Wish To Renew My Membership.

You must confirm your membership renewal and pay renewal fees by September 15th or risk being dropped. If you are dropped, you may be subject to an additional $25 reinstatement fee if you later decide to continue your ASHE membership to recoup the cost of fees charged by the National Board for new members. Renewal fees are currently $55 for all non-student memberships.
