Tim Mathews, PE

The Concept of Merging Two Major Modes of Transportation

Mr. Matthews is a registered professional engineer and has over sixteen (16) years of experience in the highway industry including Roadway Design and Program/Project Management. Mr. Matthews began his career at the Georgia Department of Transportation in 2002 and has worked as a Program/Project Manager, Senior Design Build engineer, and design manager in the office of Roadway Design, Program Delivery, the Transportation InvestimetnAct (TIA), and Innovative Delivery. Tim is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. Tim currently serves as the Major Mobility Investment Program (MMIP) Manager for the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT). He is responsible for coordination, management, and delivery of the MMIP and design build transportation projects for GDOT. In addition, Tim has served in Higher Education as an Adjunct Professor and in the private sector for Transportation. Prior to earning his Civil Engineering degree, Tim served in the United States Navy aboard the USS California (CGN 36) near Seattle, Washington. Tim lives in Atlanta GA with his wife Karyn, and their two boys Aidan and Alex. He enjoys running, hiking, traveling, and going to Braves Games.
